What you see after opening

Why the Mac does not open .msg files
An .msg file is the own format of Microsoft Outlook. Apple Mail reads .eml and .mbox, but not .msg. A double-click on the file opens nothing, or a program that shows only code.
This page reads the .msg file in your browser. You install nothing and you need no Microsoft account.
How to open an .msg file on a Mac
- Open this page in Safari, Chrome or Firefox.
- Drag the .msg file from Finder onto the letter slot above. Or select “Select file”.
- Read the email. Select “Save” next to an attachment. It goes to the Downloads folder.
Other email files on a Mac
- winmail.dat: Apple Mail shows it instead of the real attachments. Drag it onto the slot. The files come out.
- .mbox: Apple Mail can import it. Here you read and search it without an import.
- .eml: Apple Mail opens it. Here you see all attachments as a list and save them as ZIP.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. You need no account and no sign-up. There is no limit on the number or size of files.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file on your device. Our server never sees it. You can check this: load the page, switch off the internet, then open the file. It still works.
Do I need Outlook for Mac?
No. This page shows sender, recipients, date, text and attachments in Safari, Chrome or Firefox.
Can I move the email into Apple Mail?
Yes. Select “Save as .eml”. A double-click opens the .eml file in Apple Mail.
Does it work on an older Mac?
Yes, with Safari 15 or newer. That is macOS Monterey and later. On older systems use a current Chrome or Firefox.
